Winding Bay: Timeless Serenity at the Edge of Eleuthera
Winding Bay is one of Eleuthera’s most breathtaking natural features—a secluded crescent of soft pink sand and turquoise waters nestled into the island’s southern coastline.

Overview
Hidden from crowds and untouched by commercial development,Winding Bay offers a peaceful escape for travellers seeking true relaxation and privacy in the Bahamas. With its calm waters, wide open skies, and untouched landscape, Winding Bay delivers the kind of experience that defines Out Island luxury—authentic, restorative, and deeply connected to nature.
History of Winding Bay
The story of Winding Bay is deeply connected to the mid-century vision of South Eleuthera as a premier travel destination. In the 1950s and 60s, developers like Juan Trippe (founder of Pan Am Airlines) and Edgar Kaiser (of Kaiser Aluminum) began building a tropical haven that would attract elite global travelers. The region quickly became a hotspot for investment, resulting in the development of key landmarks like Rock Sound Airport, Cotton Bay Club, and the Winding Bay Club.
While many of these ventures declined following Bahamian independence in 1973, Winding Bay itself remained untouched by overdevelopment. As large resorts faded, nature reclaimed the coastline, leaving behind one of the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the Caribbean. Today, the bay’s quiet resilience is part of its charm—it offers guests a timeless, almost sacred atmosphere that invites reflection, reconnection, and true rest.
